Honey Hearth Gluten Free Baking Company sells custom desserts of all sorts in Bentonville, Arkansas. What started as one woman’s love for baking has turned into a local favorite. Almost a year ago, in October 2020, Kazandra Lugo launched Honey Hearth. Honey Hearth is a licensee of OZ Trails.
“I’m pretty new to the business side of baking. I really love sharing the things I make with people; just wanting to feed my friends. I kinda do this in my spare time but now it’s starting to pick up. The community really supports small businesses like mine and that’s something I love about NWA.” – Kazandra Lugo
After living in Bentonville, Arkansas, for over twenty-three years, Kazandra draws inspiration from the city when she bakes. Arkansas-shaped cookies, cupcakes, and donuts are a few of the treats made by Kazandra. When she’s not posting her most recent baked goods on Honey Hearth’s Instagram, Kazandra runs Crêpes Paulette full time.
Crêpes Paulette has become a staple in the Northwest Arkansas community for French cuisine. During the height of the Pandemic, Crêpes Paulette never fully shut down. Still, their slowed business gave Kazandra time to hone her passion for baking. Kazandra would bake cakes for friends and family member’s birthdays and received encouragement from her co-workers to launch her own bakery.
Kazandra shared that COVID-19 impacted her business in many ways. She has learned to be “more conscious of how a virus spreads. Whereas before, I didn’t really think about it. We’ve had to change a lot.”
One of the ways Honey Hearth has adapted to COVID-19 is by utilizing contactless delivery. Normally, you can find Kazandra selling her baked goods on Thursdays at the mid-week farmer’s market in the Bentonville Square. When completing custom orders, however, Kazandra will deliver to your doorstep to slow any potential spread of the virus.
Honey Hearth partnered with OZ Trails in May 2021. A mother of three, Kazandra often rides with her family on the various OZ Trail systems, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, and the Razorback Greenway being some of their favorites.
“I love NWA in general. OZ Trails has so many facets within the community.”
